Dear Dr. Koba,
Your telex received yesterday.
Is it true you are trying to obtain the Tinidazole powder instead of
Fasigyn (Tinidazole) tablets? If Fasigyn tablets are easily available in
Japan, why is powder so urgently needed?
However, I have commenced enquiries of how we can obtain 50 gms of powder,
but fail to understand what you mean
by,
“and 100 their original dosage
forms.” All I know is that Dr. Wyburn-Mason recommends four Fasigyn 500
tablets to be taken as one dosage for an adult, and proportionately less
for children to be calculated on a weight basis. His earlier recommendation
was this dosage of tablets at two week intervals until reaction and sore-
ness is not apparent, meaning the amoeba is eliminated. His latest findings
conveyed to me recently are one dose one evening after meal, and a second
dose the following evening. I quote an extract from his letter dated 9th
January, 1979:
“For Dr. Owen’s information we have now found that the best way of using
these substances is to give Fasigyn 2 grams with the last meal of the day
on two successive days, i.e. 4 grams in all. This is the most powerful sub-
stance against the amoeba, but in this dose tends to give a more violent
reaction but very often no further treatment is required in the case of
rheumatoid disease. Occasionally if activity as judged by pain and swelling
is still present after two weeks the dose can be repeated.”
I therefore cannot understand what you mean by the “original dosage forms”
- please explain.
Also, what type of recommendation letter do you require, and from whom? Do
you want this letter from a Rheumatologist in Australia, as I feel sure I
can get this, or from me who have no medical authority, or from Pfizer Aus-
tralia, and these people are usually not prepared to recommend? All their
function is to supply their product to prescription from doctors or chem-
ists. I await your clarification.
Yours sincerely,
T.W. Crommelin
